Trampoline is participating in Web Mission 2008, a showcase of UK technology companies organised by UK Trade and Investment among others. Participating companies were selected on their ability to do meaningful business in the US, their business viability and the strength of their management team.

Web Mission 2008 runs from 19th-25th April, a week in which Trampoline will be out in force in San Francisco. That week we’re also exhibiting at Web 2.0 Expo, more on which to follow!

UK businesses lead the US in embracing enterprise 2.0 technologies

Boston and London, UK, 24 June 2008 - Trampoline Systems, social intelligence for business, today revealed the results of global research offering insights into the future of enterprise social networking. The research, carried out in the US and the UK, revealed that 88 per cent of businesses are eager to start using social networking although many are looking for more business functionality than in consumer social networks. UK businesses are eager to deploy social networking in the enterprise with 94 per cent of those surveyed believing social networking would be beneficial to use at work compared to 82 per cent of US organisations.

Trampoline Systems surveyed industry executives in the US and the UK for their views on how social networking could be useful for businesses in the future. 84 per cent reported that social networking would help with sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues across the organisation and 68 per cent would like help with finding relevant information. Those surveyed are also eager to open up connections within the business with 69 per cent citing they want to be able to interact with colleagues that they don't already know personally.

But businesses are still holding back from fully embracing these new technologies. The top concern of businesses in the UK and the US is that social networks are too separate from other IT systems,, requiring employees to enter information about themselves into the social network and distracting them from their work. This is despite the fact Trampoline's enterprise social networking tools automatically update a user's profile using data from their everyday work including email. 75 per cent of large organisations in the US and 66 per cent of UK businesses believe that a social network which integrates internally with a company's email system to automatically update a user's profile would be an extremely useful communications tool.

Charles Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer of Trampoline Systems, says: "This survey confirms that enterprise social networking is firmly established in corporate thinking on both sides of the Atlantic. Interestingly, it also verifies that executives are increasingly concerned about the drawbacks with conventional systems that rely on manual profile updates. In the current economic climate, businesses are under more pressure than ever to improve the way they work and fully harness the talent and experience in their workforce. Intelligent social networks that automatically stay up to date with new expertise and contacts offer a simple and powerful route to achieving this."

Overall, Trampoline's research highlights that businesses in the US and the UK are recognising the strategic and business value of enterprise 2.0 technologies. This is backed up by Forrester Research which reported in April 2008 that the enterprise 2.0 industry will be worth $4.3 billion by 2013.

Trampoline undertook the research at this year's Enterprise 2.0 Conference in Boston and Web 2.0 Strategies event in London and surveyed 111 delegates.

About Trampoline Systems

Trampoline Systems provides social intelligence for business.

SONAR Dashboard built to satisfy demand for a "Facebook for business"

Web 2.0 Expo, San Francisco and London, UK, 22nd April 2008 - Trampoline Systems, social intelligence for business, today announces SONAR Dashboard, the world's first intelligent social network for enterprises. SONAR Dashboard is Trampoline's response to market demand for a "Facebook for the enterprise". It empowers employees of large enterprises to connect and collaborate and strengthens informal employee networks across departments and geographies.

SONAR Dashboard is an intelligent social network designed to increase cohesion, collaboration and innovation in large organisations. Interactive network visualisations and expertise search enable users to find and connect with the people they need at work and see the social networks and information flows operating across the enterprise ecosystem. It provides employees with individual profiles, a news feed of network activity and a contacts list. SONAR Dashboard is automatically updated through integration with employees' everyday work such as email, via Trampoline's SONAR Server. SONAR Server analyses the social networks, information flows and expertise hidden within corporate information.

Charles Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer of Trampoline Systems, says, "Many organisations are looking for a "Facebook for business". SONAR Dashboard is the answer. Trampoline has built SONAR Dashboard from the ground up to meet the needs of large enterprises. Unlike other social networking products, SONAR Dashboard is automatically updated, providing an up-to-date network as a by-product of employees' everyday work."

SONAR Dashboard is an addition to SONAR Suite, Trampoline's 360° enterprise social computing platform. SONAR Flightdeck provides organisational diagnostics for managers. SONAR Suite provides enterprise-class security, privacy and integration.

Trampoline is exhibiting on the Oracle booth, booth 629, at Web 2.0 Expo , Moscone West, San Francisco, from 22-25th April.
Trampoline Systems launches Metascope for organisational network analysis of large networks

Metascope analyses and visualises email or survey data to expand opportunities for ONA/SNA consultants

London, UK, 2nd April 2008 – Trampoline Systems, the enterprise social computing software developer, today announces Metascope, a software tool for organisational network analysis (ONA) and social network analysis (SNA) of large networks. Metascope is being used professionally by world-leading management consultants. It analyses and visualises email as well as survey data, extending the scope for comprehensive exploration of networks of tens of thousands of people, and provides intuitive, attractive visualisations for client presentations.

Metascope quickly gives organisational network analysis professionals detailed insight into the largest of networks. In comparison to other tools on the market, it enables practitioners to produce higher quality analysis, reports and presentations for more successful projects. Metascope is very easy to use from data input to final reporting. It offers advanced analytics and the ability to both manipulate and visualise data within the same interface.

Metascope enables ONA professionals to investigate communication networks in action in addition to the reported organisation found in surveys. Email networks are as easy to explore as those represented in surveys. It is compatible with multiple formats of survey data and performs analysis of survey data as a stand-alone desktop application. Email data is ingested through Trampoline’s SONAR Server, which extracts the social networks contained within email datasets.

Charles Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer of Trampoline Systems, says, “Until now, ONA practitioners have not had the software they need to tackle large projects which require a scalable toolset and high quality visualisation. They need to explore networks in the largest organisations and use real communication flows as well as survey data. Metascope provides this. Trampoline is proud to meet the evolving needs of the ONA community.”

A free, demonstration version of Metascope is available to download from Trampoline’s website. It uses an email corpus made available by the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission during its investigation into the downfall of Enron.

For media enquiries please contact:

Rebecca Kemp
Rebecca DOT kemp AT trampolinesystems DOT com
+44 20 7253 6959

Trampoline Systems launches world's first organisational intelligence and diagnostics tool

London, UK, 31st March - Trampoline Systems, the enterprise social computing pioneer, today announces SONAR Flightdeck, the world's first organisational intelligence and diagnostics tool for managers. SONAR Flightdeck provides strategic intelligence about the informal networks that power organisations so managers can make better, more informed decisions, faster. It brings groundbreaking network analysis techniques to business managers to expose the social networks and information flows contained within everyday electronic communications.

Businesses are increasingly aware that informal, peer to peer networks are the real powerhouse of their organisations. Until now management teams have been unable to understand these social networks because the only information available about them has been anecdotal or the result of specialised consultancy projects. SONAR Flightdeck brings the academic techniques of organisational network analysis to managers to increase their understanding of the businesses they run and improve decision-making.

SONAR Flightdeck automatically displays the crucial social factors at play within organisations including key opinion formers, poorly-integrated business units, emerging communities of interest, single points of failure and third-party relationships. This intelligence is vital to large, distributed organisations needing to improve cohesiveness, collaboration and innovation; mergers and acquisitions teams performing high-risk, low-data integrations; and change management professionals designing, implementing and monitoring change programmes.

Charles Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer of Trampoline Systems, says, "SONAR Flightdeck extends the scope of Enterprise Social Computing by bringing the specialised techniques of organisational network analysis to business users. It derives vital intelligence from the millions of fragments of electronic information flowing around an organisation and presents it in interactive visualisations. SONAR Flightdeck reveals the strategic insight that has long been locked inside everyday communications."

SONAR Flightdeck is the newest addition to SONAR Suite, Trampoline's Enterprise Social Computing platform for employees and managers. SONAR Dashboard provides social computing for employees to locate experts, connect and collaborate. SONAR Flightdeck and Dashboard are powered by SONAR Server, which identifies the social networks, information flows and topics within electronic information such as email, documents and IM. SONAR Suite provides enterprise-class security, privacy and integration.

-ends-

About Trampoline Systems

Trampoline Systems is a London-based developer of enterprise social computing software. Trampoline's SONAR Suite provides tools for employees to locate experts, connect and collaborate and for managers to understand their organisation's networks and information flows. Metascope is Trampoline's software for organisational network analysis of large networks.

Trampoline's clients include the Raytheon Company, a top 5 global management consultancy and the UK Foreign Office. Trampoline received Oracle's EMEA Innovation Award 2007 and was a finalist for CNET UK's Enterprise Software Product of the Year 2007. Prior to his tenure at Oracle Adrian was Managing Director of Sleepycat Europe Ltd. where he was responsible for building the Berkeley DB business in Europe and managing the acquisition of the company by Oracle in 2006. Adrian was Vice President of EMEA at Versant for eight years before this. At Versant he oversaw the company’s European operations, led the growth of Versant from number four to number one in the object database market in Europe and opened up the financial sector to Versant’s technology.

Adrian says: “I am delighted to be joining Trampoline at such an exciting time for the company and the industry. Trampoline’s technology is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of today’s global enterprises as they intensify their focus on the social networks which are so crucial for collaboration and innovation. I look forward to honing Trampoline’s sales strategy, further strengthening the valued partnership between Oracle and Trampoline and building Trampoline’s presence in this growing market.”

Charles Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer of Trampoline Systems, says: “Adrian’s extraordinary successes at Oracle and Sleepycat are a testament to his intuition for the needs of large enterprises. Adrian’s specific experience introducing emerging technologies to new markets will be hugely valuable for SONAR and future product releases. I’m thrilled he’s joining the team as we continue to establish Trampoline as the leading provider of next-generation software for the enterprise.”

Trampoline provides software that harnesses social behaviour in the workplace. The company’s products offer a simple way of identifying knowledge assets, expertise and relationship networks within an organisation, enhancing productivity and efficiency and bringing archived information to life. By uniting information with the social behaviour which surrounds it, organisations can empower their employees to find the people and answers they need.

About Trampoline Systems

Trampoline Systems is an enterprise software developer based in London, UK. Trampoline’s products harness social behaviour throughout organisations to pinpoint expertise, leverage relationships and relay knowledge where it’s needed.
Marketing Executive - London

Trampoline is looking for an intelligent, enterprising marketeer to get stuck in to our marketing activities. You will gain experience across the marketing mix, including PR, events and online as well as working on messaging and corporate materials. You will be responsible for real projects from day one and will find yourself working on everything from webinars to PR campaigns to tradeshows. The role is a great mix of the complexities of B2B marketing with the cool stuff more usually associated with B2C. Trampoline has a reputation as an innovative, stylish company at the forefront of its field and you'll play a key part in ensuring we retain and develop this position!

Requirements

Skills

Excellent communications skills are vital. Written and verbal skills are paramount, visual flair is a bonus. You are very bright, quick-thinking and able to handle multiple tasks and priorities, as well as able to work to tight schedules.

The enterprise software communications and sales process is a complicated business so you need to be able to grasp new concepts quickly and understand the differing needs of multiple audiences. You don't need to be technically-minded, but must be able to understand and explain complex ideas simply.

The role will involve working with many types of people, including Trampoline's technical team, senior management and PR and design agencies, so you need excellent interpersonal skills and self-confidence. Ambition and creative thinking are important qualities too.

Start-ups have particular demands in that everything moves at a break-neck pace and priorities are always shifting. You need to be able to keep calm within the storm and move with the tides. Your flexibility and determination will be rewarded with a great working environment, interesting work and unrivalled experience.

Experience

The role is ideal for graduate or a second job. Experience of marketing or communications through employment, internships or extracurricular activities would be a plus, as would an interest in technology and its applications.

Education

Bachelor's degree in any discipline.

Location

Shoreditch, London.

Compensation

Competitive and dependent on experience, plus employee share option plan.

What is Trampoline?

Trampoline is a software start-up of 20 people. We make and sell enterprise social computing software.
A couple of weeks ago I was in Sapporo at the Infinity Ventures Summit (the site’s in Japanese) to talk about the role of informal networks in business and show off Trampoline’s SONAR Suite.

I just started working at Trampoline Systems yesterday. Some of you might know my blog already (the one with kitten pics and programming rants). The first thing I did was configuring all the software on my new MacBook. Most of it went all right without any problems, but a few gems didn?t want to install, complaining about jni.h missing. jni.h was on the box, so the problem was basically that the gems were looking for it in a wrong place. Problems like that can usually be solved by strace -e trace=file gem install whatever | grep 'jni.h' and a symlink. Not this time, because Macs does have strace. There?s something called ktrace, but it didn?t seem to provide information I needed.

While trying to create a unified testing framework (shared between Rails and our Java backend code) I came across ActiveRecordJDBC which is an adapter to use JDBC drivers with JRuby on Rails. It works fine, although it can be a bit complicated to get a DRY database.yml configuration. The goal is to get rid of our dbunit/manually crafted database tests on the Java side by using ActiveRecord fixtures. After some research I found out about the Rails integration project (now called GoldSpike), which tries to make it easy to deploy a Rails app on a Java servlet container such as jetty. As far as I know Thoughtworks uses this approach to deploy their new product, Mingle. GoldSpike is under constant development but it is already usable, although a few patches were required. After everything was set up, a simple

They are quite beefy, with 8GB RAM, 15k disks, and 8 x 3.2GHz threads. We decided to go with centos 5 as the operating system, since we have had pain installing Oracle on our debian platforms. Here is the install procedure I uncovered, which gets the server ready for SONAR on either MySQL or oracle. It covers installing Ruby, RubyGems, lots of useful Gems, Java, and Oracle 10g
