Charles great post and absolutely right about the knowledge ‘ecology’. And they don’t have Xerox pumping millions into research into the ‘Office of the Future’ either! Clearly they haven’t read or taken a blind bit of notice of John Seely Brown’s (ex Head of Parc) work either.

Completely agree with your analysis. They are asking investors to pay in order to invest in start-ups. Their platform and concept are flawed. Seriously, all investors need to do is to tell people that they got money to invest and start-ups will flood to them. Who needs to pay for the ‘privilege’ of backing a company?

One may argue that members of an angel group may need to pay an annual membership fee too. But who are we kidding? This platform is not an angel group. Intelligent investors won’t sign up; smart entrepreneurs would know better. This means the deal flow in their system is likely crappy.

I heard they are trying to roll out in many different countries. Maybe they will succeed if they got enough fools to sign up. I have seen much better crowdfunding platforms.

Did you evaluate the built-in corr() function in PostgreSQL? Something like this:

SELECT corr(t1.rating, t2.rating)
FROM ratings t1
join ratings t2 on t1.movie_title = t2.movie_title
WHERE t1.user_id = 1 AND t2.user_id = 2

I spoke with FERC last year. I’m an Enron witness (2nd whistleblower – functioning on old Northern Natural Gas / church scandal from Omaha). Enron Explorer was taken offline to the “>shoo” responce. That’s what coming up on my computer anyways.

SDI and CIA / DEA lore tied to my dad’s work with “NSA”. How about listening to the ideas while putting this back up? Still looking into FOIA fraud or intentional negligence. Add, economy and transparency gives you and everybody else credibility for this rough market. People hedge bets when organizations like yours play turtle.

I’m currently looking in that direction (Rails front end with a model layer powered by clojure) and I could use some more advises / tips
